Philosophy

Magic isn't technology. Technology isn't magic. Mana-tech is the hybrid — tools that channel natural mana through engineered systems.

By Year 314, this hybrid approach had created a golden age. By Year 600, the knowledge was hoarded. By Year 1672, it's widespread again.

Origin

Guns never existed for the Alkin — this is Lazerin's creation. Mana-tech weaponry distributed exclusively through his military hierarchy. The Citadel's monopoly on violence.

How They Work

  • Mana-powered, not gunpowder
  • Compressed mana, not bullets — shots leave no casings, just heat
  • Heat buildup instead of ammunition (burst, breathe, burst)
  • Overheating locks the weapon until it cools

Kael's First Encounter

Architecture

The Core Principle

Roman bones. Mana-tech veins.

The Citadel (and Athernyx architecture broadly) looks classical — columns, arches, marble, stone. Dignified. Timeless.

But the trim isn't decorative. It's functional.

LED Analogy

Think: mana inscribed runes hidden by trim, like LED strips hidden in modern architecture. The light is there, but the source is invisible until you look for it.
